Citizens of Atchison County:
In March of 2021, we spoke with you regarding the KDOT Cost Share Program. The Cost Share is a component of the Kelly administration’s 10-year, bipartisan Eisenhower Legacy Transportation Program, or IKE. Cost Share is designed to help both rural and urban areas advance transportation projects to improve safety, support job retention and growth, relieve congestion and improve access and mobility.
Atchison County applied for the Spring 2021 round of funding to assist with the repairs needed on 286th Road. 117 communities applied for more than $103 million in funding. Of these, 30 were selected for funding. Unfortunately, Atchison County was not granted an award at this time.
Though disappointed, we will not be deterred. We are planning to reapply for the Fall 2021 round and we are continuously searching for other funding options to make the necessary repairs to 286th Road and others within the county. We are also in contact with our State Legislators and look forward to their additional guidance.
We thank all of you for your continued support.
