The Board of County Commissioners is a three-person elected board that has the overall responsibility for county government functions such as budgets, setting policies, and performing executive functions.
Commissioners serve four-year terms, with two of the three Commissioners being elected in the same year: and the other Commissioner is elected two years later. Commissioner terms begin the second Monday in January after the election.
The Board of County Commissioners is the only elected body, which represents citizens of Atchison County whether their residence is located inside or outside city limits.
The Board of County Commissioners meets weekly on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:30 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Meetings are held in the Commissioner Room located on the upper level of the Atchison County Law Enforcement Center. Weekly Commission Meetings and Agendas are subject to change. For agenda scheduling or changes, please contact by phone at (913) 367-8245 or Pauline Lee, County Clerk, at (913) 367-1653 or by e-mail
