In accordance with Kansas State Statutes, the Atchison County Appraiser’s Office will be mailing out the 2021 “Change of Value Notices” March 1st for Real Estate.
2020 has been a challenging year for everyone. Despite the economic challenges 2020 brought, the Real Estate Market has not shown a hardship with the COVID pandemic. With lower mortgage rates, buyer demand surged and home prices responded accordingly.
As a taxpayer you have the opportunity to appeal your valuation. If you wish to appeal the value or classification of your property, contact the county appraiser’s office within 30 days from the mailing date of your “Change of Value Notice”. If you do not appeal within the 30 days, you can still protest the value or classification of your property when you pay your taxes. By law, you cannot appeal both at the time of notice and when you pay your taxes for the same property in the same tax year.
2021 Personal Property Renditions have been mailed out and are DUE RETURNED to Appraiser’s office BY MARCH 15th TO AVOID LATE FILING PENALTIES. If you have not received your 2021 Personal Property Rendition yet, please contact the Appraiser’s Office to avoid late file penalties.
